Senior Micah Brown (a.k.a. Big Mike) recently received college scholarships to multiple schools based on his outstanding performance in CHS sports.
The offers came from UVA-Wise, Norfolk State University, and Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia.
He played both basketball and football in high school and has said he really wants to concentrate on football in the future. He will attend UVA-Wise in the fall.
Brown’s high school coach, Alonzo Ricks, explained why he first picked Brown to be on his football team, “Look at him, he was a big young man back then when I met him. You could see the growth and maturity in him once he got outside on the field playing with the varsity guys his freshman year, and I just know it’ll be a matter of time before he would evolve and be one of the best around.”
Brown has been playing football ever since he was a freshman and he wants to continue it as long as he can.
“If a lot of young people had that, they might be able to go further in life, but he has it right now, and I pray that he continues that and keeps growing in that direction,” said Ricks.
Ricks says Brown has a great attitude on and off the field, and wants the best for him.
Even though Brown’s high school career is ending, he’s sure to be successful in college.
